About KontriTicket

KontriTicket is an event registration and ticketing platform for Sierra Leone, built and operated by Dot Portal Limited, a company registered in Sierra Leone.

What we build

In Sierra Leone, selling a ticket usually means printing it: cash at the door for a show, or tickets printed onto cards and sold through agents if you are selling ahead of time. Registering for a summit or program usually means a paper form, or a Google Form that has no way to take a payment. There is no ticketing app to speak of here, and almost nobody pays by card. KontriTicket gives you a digital way to do both, selling and registering, without asking anyone to use either.

A delegate registers for an event in WhatsApp, the app they already use every day, or in any browser if that is easier. The same event, the same questions and the same ticket, whichever way they arrive.

Payment works the way money actually moves here: mobile money from Orange Money or Afrimoney, or a cash code bought from a local agent for people who do not use a mobile wallet at all. At the gate, tickets are scanned by a check-in app that is designed to work with no signal, because a venue with a full house rarely has a working network and a queue at the door is not the place to discover that.

Who we are

KontriTicket started as a workaround. Running our own annual summit, we did not want to sell paper tickets, easy to lose, easy to fake, and nearly impossible to reconcile once the event was over. A Google Form could not take a payment either. So we built a code system ourselves: a backend that generated codes, sold offline through agents and by direct Orange Money transfer, that delegates then used to unlock the real registration form. It worked. It was also held together entirely by hand. Agents kept their own paper tally of which sold codes had actually turned into a registration, because the system only knew a code existed, not whether anyone had used it, and for long stretches the team was not running the event so much as walking people through a web form they had never used before. It worked well enough that other organizers, watching it, started asking if they could use it too. Enough of them asked that turning it into a proper product stopped being a side project.

Dot Portal Limited is a technology company registered in Sierra Leone and based in Freetown, building software for the way people here actually live and pay. KontriTicket is its event registration and ticketing product. You can see it listed alongside the company’s other work at www.dotportalsl.com. Organizers contract with Dot Portal Limited to run registration and ticketing for their events; the platform handles registration, payment, ticket issuance and check-in, while the organizer remains responsible for the event itself.
